Story[]
Carmen is an assassin by trade. Killing is her business - literally. With her twin gauss pistols and her black-market stims, she is able to move quickly and quietly across the battlefield. At range she is dangerous, but up close she is deadly. She disappears and reappears within arms length and treats her enemies to an abrupt end with a single blast from her pistols.
HeroStory[]
The Allied Military is constantly plagued by rogue mercenary groups who disrupt their operations and steal their supplies. For years, much of their time and resources were spent rooting out these detractors and eliminating them. Entire squadrons would spend weeks scouring nebulae and scanning asteroid fields. These problems vexed Command Admiral Pelius to no end, until one night in his quarters, he received a surprise visitor.
As the Command Admiral pored over fleet manifests, a beautiful young woman appeared in front of him, pressing the business end of a gauss pistol to his forehead. Somehow she had bypassed the flagship’s elaborate security system and entered his locked room. Her name was Carmen.
Carmen grew up on the streets of Fatala – an industrial manufacturing planet that suffers some of the highest crime rates in the galaxy. When she was nine, she found a pair of twin pistols on a body in the alley and immediately began training. Unrivaled at infiltration and deadly up close, Carmen made a name for herself in the criminal underground.
The same Mercenary groups hunted by the Allied military had crossed Carmen – refusing to pay her when she completed a job. Of course Carmen was going to kill them for their betrayal, but she might as well get paid for it. Carmen gave the admiral an offer in line with the old adage “the enemy of my enemy is my friend.” Against protocol, the Admiral accepted Carmen’s offer – agreeing to pay her when the mercenary leaders were dead.
Carmen fulfilled her end of the contract, and Admiral Pelius paid her in full. The two have worked together ever since. Now Admiral Pelius officially contracts Carmen’s services to hunt down and exterminate any mercenary groups that threaten the safety or supply of the Allied Military. Carmen’s connections to the criminal underground may be below the Allied Military standards, but he knows that if someone absolutely, positively has to be assassinated overnight, he can call on the best assassin humanity has to offer.
Exactly why Carmen is fighting in the Arena is a topic for much debate. Does the Admiral wish to keep tabs on the Guardians and the Halcyon Council? Or is Carmen simply keeping her skills sharp between contracts?
