Story[]
Junkyard is a large, insectoid robot armed with lasers, magnetic pulse engines, and a pair of pincer-like arms with enough force to crush a ship’s hull in a matter of seconds. Junkyard can pull enemies towards him with magnetic fields and do damage from range with the giant laser. With no pity or remorse, Junkyard decimates his foes with a cold and bitter efficiency.
HeroStory[]
In the far reaches of the Galaxy, beyond the Keevas Belt, lies the planet Rasahus. The planet has been waste dump for centuries, populated only by scattered, automated industrial facilities spewing gases into the thin atmosphere and the occasional vagrant hoping to dig through the garbage and find something valuable. Over time, broken pieces of technology were cast of out of loading bays in orbit and ended up littering the planet’s surface. The distance from any form of law or government also made the planet an ideal place for the galaxy’s criminal element to hatch their nefarious schemes.
One day a group of these same criminals happened upon what looked like a giant, robotic insect traversing the heaps of debris. Curiosities piqued, they approached the creature with weapons drawn. It was their last mistake. Without warning, the creature fired a giant laser that cut through the group entirely, reducing them to mounds of smoking ash.
News of Junkyard’s existence soon reached the ears of Dr. Waylon Krensh, the galaxy’s most renowned roboticist, who traveled to the planet in an attempt to communicate and study the fascinating artificial lifeform.
Risking grave personal injury and death, Dr. Krensh was able to approach Junkyard without getting instantly vaporized. The duo soon formed a friendship of sorts. Dr. Krensh taught Junkyard to speak common language and outfitted him with vocal precipitators. He reinforced and streamlined Junkyard’s design, and urged him not to vaporize people for no reason – all in an effort to understand his exotic technology and learn who had created him.
Dr. Krensh never got that chance. While Junkyard was offline, receiving an upgrade to his neural net, Dr. Krensh was discovered by a group of violent foragers who killed him and made off with Junkyard. It wasn’t until the hijackers had carried Junkyard halfway across the galaxy that they were able to reactivate him. Thinking himself betrayed by his only friend, Junkyard flew into a rage – likely his first emotion. He imploded the ship from the inside out in a single, massive burst of magnetic energy. After free floating in space for nearly a year, he crash-landed on a nearby moon, resolved never to trust humans again. Joining the Arena of Heroes was a logical choice for Junkyard, giving him a place to act out his revenge on organics and Dr. Krensh.
